Professor O offers a variety of courses in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Cultural History of East Asia. He is writing a book on the history of modernization in Japan that examines the immigration campaigns during the Meiji - Taishō era (明治・大正 時代, 1868-1926). He currently serves as a Council Member to the National Board of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.
